Infrastructure Mapping & Analysis

Rodriguez's mission is to deliver vital civil engineering and geospatial services that strengthen our Nation's infrastructure and improve our natural resources. The first step in improving infrastructure management is to have an accurate inventory of what assets you own and where they are.  Paper maps, paper forms, 3x5 cards, and spreadsheets were useful tools to inventory assets in the 1900's but it's time to move on. 

Rodriguez works with infrastructure owners to develop cost effective and scalable solutions for collecting and inventorying infrastructure data. We focus on understanding each organization's needs and resources (human and financial).  Our goal is to develop tools that integrate with existing systems of record and become a seamless part of the organization. 

Our information management staff consist of engineers and planners that have hands-on experience working with the following infrastructure:

  • Potable Water & Wastewater
  • Stormwater, Green Stormwater Infrastructure, & Waterways
  • Energy (Natural Gas, Electric, Steam)
  • Transportation (Roadways, Signs, Traffic Signals, Light Poles, ADA Ramps)
  • Pedestrian Networks (Trails, Sidewalks, Bike Lanes, Bike Stations)
  • Communications (LANs, WANs, Poles, Towers, cables)

We develop accurate inventories of infrastructure assets that are managed in geospatial databases that contain critical information such as: capacity, size, age, condition, service frequency, etc. These geospatial databases are then integrated with existing information systems (i.e. customer relationship management (CRM),  work order management, financial, SCADA, etc.).

Infrastructure Mapping & Analysis Projects

  • Vineland Traffic Asset Inventory using Fulcrum VINELAND, NJ (Traffic Asset Inventory) - Rodriguez Consulting LLC (Rodriguez), under contract with Urban Engineers, Inc. developed a inventory traffic signal asset inventory for 39 signalized intersections in the City of Vineland, NJ.  The asset inventory was performed under a contract with the South Jersey Transportation Planning Organization (SJTPO). Rodriguez ContributionRodriguez was responsible for performing the following services in conjunction with developing a traffic asset inventory:  Data Model Development – Rodriguez worked with engineers from SJTPO, Cumberland County. the City of Vineland, and Urban Engineers to develop a data model to support field data collection and future information management needs.  The data model incorporated the following assets: Signal Controllers, Signal Poles/Supports, Signal Indicators, and Vehicle Detectors . Mobile Data Collection - Rodriguez ...

  • CMAQ in Atlantic & Cape May Counties (Traffic Signal Equipment Inventory) Rodriguez Consulting LLC (Rodriguez), under contract with Urban Engineering, Inc. provided Intersection Inventory and Database Development for traffic signals along each corridor of 40 signalized intersection in the Atlantic and Cape May Counties, NJ. Rodriguez developed also a report of recommendations for future intersection improvements for each roadway.Rodriguez Contribution - Rodriguez Traffic Signal Equipment Inventory: Prior to performing site visits, Rodriguez coordinated with SJTPO, Cape May and Atlantic Counties. Rodriguez field crew performed data collection at 40 intersections to inventory the following traffic signal assets: Signal Controller, Signal Poles/Supports, Signal Indications, Vehicle Detection, and Pedestrian.   • DVRPC Transportation Signage Inventory TRENTON, NJ (ASSET INVENTORY) - Rodriguez Consulting LLC (Rodriguez), under contract with Taylor Wiseman & Taylor (TWT), provided geospatial and transportation asset inventory services for Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission (DVRPC) for the Mercer County Signage asset inventory project. The purpose of the project was to assess the locations of existing county-owned traffic signs and gather retroreflectivity properties of the signs and its height  with offset.  Rodriguez ContributionRodriguez was responsible for providing geospatial and asset inventory services:Field Data Collection– Rodriguez utilized Mercer County Sign Management Application software to build a GIS database of Mercer County`s traffic signs and collect digital photos.
