PHILADELPHIA, PA - NOVEMBER 7, 2010 – Today, Mayor
Michael A. Nutter announced an increase in City contracts awarded to
Minorities, Women, and Disabled-owned businesses (M/W/DSBEs) during
Fiscal Year (FY) 2010. According to the Office of Economic Opportunity’s
(OEO) Fiscal 2010 Annual Report, the City awarded $956 million in
contract awards to businesses in FY2010 and M/W/DSBEs received $214
million (22%) of these awards. This number is an increase from FY2009,
when M/W/DSBEs received 20% of City awarded contracts. READ MORE... As part of the press conference, Lou Rodriguez was commended for his work with Rodriguez Consulting LLC (Rodriguez), a firm that was certified as a MBE by the OEO in 2008 and has successfully completed numerous subcontracts through the program. Lou stressed that, "Rodriguez Consulting is a civil engineering and land surveying firm that is MBE-certified, not the other way around." The success and exposure through the City's MBE program has helped Rodriguez obtain a number of prime contracts with agencies like the Philadelphia Industrial Development Corporation, Philadelphia Zoo, and the South Jersey Transportation Planning Organization. |
