NEW CASTLE COUNTY, DE (sUAS Solutions) - Rodriguez Consulting LLC (Rodriguez), under contract with Kissner Group, a global leader in ice melt product supply and manufacturing, provided stockpile volumetric calculation services for a 30-acre storage facility in New Castle County, Delaware. The Rodriguez geospatial team utilized drone technology to safely, efficiently, and accurately capture high-resolution imagery and measurements while this industrial facility was fully operational.

Rodriguez Contribution
Rodriguez was responsible for calculating stockpile volumetric measurements using the following technologies:
  • sUAS/Drone – A DJI Inspire 1 Pro quadcopter was utilized to capture high-resolution imagery of the entire storage facility.  A flight plan for the project was generated in DroneDeploy and the DroneDeploy mobile app was utilized to execute the flight plan on site.
  • Image Processing–DroneDeploy’s Map Engine was used to process the individual high-resolution images and create a seamless orthophoto and 3D digital terrain model (DTM) of the entire site.
  • DroneDeploy Enterprise- The DTM and imagery was analyzed by our geospatial team in Drone Deploy Enterprise to obtain stockpile volumetric calculations. Each individual stockpile was analyzed and measured and a technical report was prepared which included a map of the project site and volume calculations for each stockpile in a tabular format.
As a result of the success of the project, the client intends to utilize Rodriguez’s services to calculate stockpile volumes on a regular basis.
